about-face

(with special guest appearance by the singularity)

It’s hard to know what to do when you don’t know what you want.

Maybe I’m learning this lesson ridiculously late in life… but I’m finally learning it.

I spent a lot of 2023 and basically all of 2024 trying to figure out what I wanted.

Up to that point, I was doing a lot of what I thought I was supposed to be doing, based on what I thought I’d wanted.

(Actually “doing what I should do instead of working toward what I actually want” is basically the story of my life, and it has
not worked out well for me.)

Even as I thought about coming back to my daily emails, which I loved so much for a long time…

There was a block.

In retrospect, I can see the issue is that I didn’t know what I wanted… so I knew I was wasting everyone’s time.

And I have an emotional allergy to wasting time.

So I stopped.

Really I stopped doing pretty much everything, online and offline.

I just focused on my client work and taking care of the kids and trying to keep everything going.

But there’s so much I want to share with you.

I thought I needed to know what it was before I could come back, but that was dumb.

Honestly. Dumb.

So I’m back. And it feels like something is growing, and I don’t exactly see it yet, but I want to bring you along as I figure it
out.

I can tell you this much:

It’s partly about storytelling.

And it’s partly about AI.

World-building is a factor, too.

But it’s mostly about copywriting… not just “how to write a sales page” but how to actually reach people with your copy.

Whether it’s for yourself or a client or the company where you work in-house.

Have you been thinking about these things too?

Honestly I am really surprised by the about-face I’ve made on AI.

Buttttttt… love it or not, it’s the way we’re all heading.

People are even saying we’re living in the Singularity.

I’m not 100% sure what that means, but it feels kinda Star Trek-y to me. Yay?

So anyway, this is me, just hanging out in the caterpillar soup phase of life, curious about what’s going to happen next and what
it’ll look like. Maybe we can hang out in our little neighboring chrysalises and become something together, on the other side of
whatever’s happening.

But in the meantime, I’m digging back into my training with the storyteller David Sewell McCann, and I’m checking back in with
what Lukas Fisher (aka Lukas Resheske) is doing with AI for copywriters and lifestyle business development, I am slowly digesting
Andre Chaperon’s stuff on tiny worlds, and of course I’m keeping tabs on what my gal pal Brittany is doing over in the AI Copy
Club for the crunchy tactics.

(If you want a primer on working with AI in all aspects of your business and/or life, AI Copy Club is the way to do it. Here’s my link to join.)

So these are the universes I’m visiting, and I’m looking for treasures I can bring back for you.

Many, many heartfelt thanks for welcoming my return.

Spread the love
