this one’s 20 years in the making

It’s no secret that I don’t get out much.

I live in Rural NC, I work from home, and I’m managing a household swarming with kids.

Any time I want to go do something without said swarm of kids, I have to either foist them onto someone or pay a sitter.

I used to joke that “the offers for free babysitting really dry up once you have your third.”

Which is true.

Then have your 4th, and there are zero offers for free babysitting, ever.

Add a global pandemic, a personal crisis, and finances that have been in a vice grip of death for years, and… well, needless to say…

I don’t get out much.

But the pandemic has mostly receded, I declared the crisis officially over in May, and the financial situation is looking up now that I have brain cells for growth and not just survival.

Alllllllll of that to say…

I saw Jason Mraz in concert Friday night.

I almost didn’t see the concert… there was some trouble with our tickets and I’m not sure I’m ever going to use Stub Hub again.

But aside from the kerfuffle at admission, I basically pinched myself the whole entire day (and most of the next day, too).

The concert itself was great.

The venue is an outdoor amphitheater right near the train tracks, and the trains loved to blow their horns. That was a little annoying but J rolled with it.

He’s touring right now with the Superband, which includes multiple percussionists, a cellist/bassist, a 3-horn trio, and a guy who played the keys AND the key-tar.

Their last song ended up being a 15-minute jam session. That was awesome.

There’s something special about seeing someone do something they really love and are exceptionally good at.

It’s most apparent (to me at least) when this involves live music, but not always.

In fact, I also like seeing it in action with copywriting.

I had the pleasure of doing this at Copy Chief Live in October 2019, and I’m excited to be doing it again this coming October.

(The childcare will not be free.)

There are some incredibly talented writers and marketers inside Copy Chief, and while we only get together once a year (or less), they’re all gathered every day in the membership.

This membership was designed for copywriters, but really “be a copywriter” is just the entrypoint.

It’s all about direct response marketing, which is what the vast majority of us — you and me — do, all day every day.

And some of the greatest minds in marketing today are in Copy Chief with me.

It’s a lot of fun — and there is a LOTTTTTT to be learned.

The sales page is tooled to new-ish copywriters, but it’s also for you if you’re writing copy for your own business OR if you’re managing any kind of marketing for a client.

There are LOADS of business owners in there who aren’t copywriters at all, but they want to get better at marketing with words.

Just check out the offer stack.

Or ask me if you have any questions!

Otherwise, you can join here for as little as $150.

And if you do join, we can hang out in October!
