question for the computery people

I have a bit of a problem and I’m hoping maybe you can help me.

So the issue is…

I think my laptop might be dying.

It’s not that it’s doing anything specifically to tip me off… I just have a feeling.

The main thing is that it got knocked off the bed the other day, and it landed on the corner where the power port is.

Totally busted the cable, that was a bummer.

Also: don’t have kids if you want your stuff to stay nice.

Anyway. Ever since then — maybe a week ago — it’s been overheating, a lot.

The fan runs a lot, and sometimes for a really long time.

And one time it overheated when it was closed — on, but sleeping.

I don’t think it’s ever done that before.

Thankfully, next week we will get back into a regular routine after 2 weeks of insanity.

I’ll be using it 3 hours a day instead of the 8 or 9 I’ve been using it.

And maybe I’ll shut it down and let it be off for the weekend.

I’m not really sure what else to do or look for…

And wondering if you have any experience or recommendations.

It’s a 13-in Macbook Pro from 2019.

As much as I love new tech, I don’t really need anything super powerful or cutting-edge in a laptop.

(For what it’s worth, my primary “power machine” computer is a 10-year-old iMac and it still does everything I need.)

I’m hoping to get a few more years out of this one.

Any advice? Recommendations? Warnings?

Happy Fridayyyyyyy
